Are You Entering Casual Scores For Your Handicap Correctly?
With the better weather (hopefully) on the way soon, here is a reminder of how to correctly enter scores into WHS for a casual (I.e. general score) round.
- You must sign in before your round begins. This must be using the same method as you will use to post your score (i.e. bar computer, England Golf app, tell the proshop (for a paper card)).
2. Somebody else must keep your score (the marker) during your round.
3. You must enter your score into WHS after the round, whether the score is good or bad!
4 You can enter a score for 9 holes (front or back) or for 18.
5. All casual scores entered into WHS will be monitored by the handicap committee from 1st March. This is to make sure it was signed in before the round and the score entered after the round.
6. Any problems or questions then please don’t hesitate to contact us on handicaps@arscottgolfclub.co.uk or catch one of us at the club. We will be very happy to help you.
How To Work Out Your Playing Handicap
Please remember that the method used to calculate your playing handicap changed when WHS was updated in April 2024. These changes now mean that:
- One continuous calculation is done by WHS, all the way through to working out your Playing Handicap.
- This means you can no longer work it out by using a calculator to work it out as 95%, 85% etc of your Course Handicap.
3. Therefore, for every tee colour there is a separate Playing Handicap table produced for each percentage value of your Course Handicap (i.e. 95%, 85% etc). You must use these tables to obtain your Playing Handicap rather than a calculator.
4. Most of these tables are displayed on the locker room noticeboards. All the tables are available in a folder in the proshop or on the club website at https://www.arscottgolfclub.co.uk/course-playing-handicap-tables/
